I've not read the comic it's based on, so I can't speak to its strengths as an adaptation - just a standalone movie.
The animation was gorgeous, especially since I watched it directly after the more lacklustre Invincible Iron Man. The choreography was fun and energetic, there was just the right balance of "cartoon gore" to nonviolence, and sparse moments of levity stopped it from taking itself too seriously (or from becoming a joke unto itself).

The blend of 2D/3D animation was charming, albeit a bit clunky when it came to fight scenes. I can't help but feel like they'd have done a better job animating all of it by hand, but considering a couple of these movies were aired in quick succession, I can't be too mad. Marc Worden is consistently a good pick for Tony's VA, and while the animation itself might have been lacking, the core style of it was very appealing.

I watched this as a student and pointed out the fact that the window should not have flown towards Rosie Octavius because it was glass, and therefore, not magnetic. My uni flatmate somehow managed to convince me that, no, glass IS magnetic, and I'd just walked through the past 19 years of my life labouring under a lie. Immediately after the scene ended they turned to me, laughed and told me "of course glass isn't magnetic" and I felt my trust shatter much like the aforementioned window. Love Alfred Molina's boobs in this one.
