a good movie needs: love, death, blood. extra points if it disturbs a person you watch it with
i‘m obsessed with the cinematography and the final scene, and i also watched this in hackesche höfe kino and that was the vibe
super confusing for the most part, poor english subbing made it even harder to understand what was happening. but what they love to do in anime is for the viewer to get a perfect picture of the world, characters, problems throughout the whole movie that it makes a perfect sense afterwards. paprika and chiba are def my favourite characters who complemented each other without taking away from each other. the world of dreams is a crazily fascinating thing
russian literature and cinematography are absolutely fascinating and genius. in those moments, i‘m grateful to speak my language because this beautiful and deep watch made so much sense and brought me satisfaction with it‘s beginning, plot, ending, ideas. there are references to russian poetry that bring up references to bible… faith, religion and god; materialism; motives of people to go into the zone; porcupine vs stalker; how 4 main characters reflect different personality types, perspectives, inner and outer worlds of the humankind. i loved everything about this movie. definitely a long one but worth it if thinking and pondering is your cup of tea…
i just kept thinking about the fact that i’m leaving canada in 3 weeks. totally felt like all three main characters. also haven’t watched a children movie for ages and forgot that all of them make most adults and no child cry
