i knew well before going into this, that this film would be very challenging, emotionally, for me. i lost my dad when i was little, and i find it very hard to accept that i will never truly know him, never as well as my mum did, or my aunty, or uncle, or grandparents. i can try to piece together my father through stories, videos, photos and bits of my faraway memory, memories i am never sure if accurate. a very important film for kids who have lost a parent. aftersun gets me, and i get it.
