Taxi Driver 1976
God, the direction and editing here is really interesting and the stylisation remains the filmβs most memorable aspect for me.
I just wish I could get more emotionally invested in this. On paper, Travis Bickle seems like a fascinating protagonist, but weirdly I struggle to care about Taxi Driver beyond the craftsmanship. It presents interesting ideas in its themes, but as a character study I struggle to really connect with Travis in any meaningful way, which does make it harderβ¦
