There is a reason this movie is titled Anora. She is an awe inspiring personality. Her perspective is ruthless. She is an entrepreneur; apathetic; a candid cynic. And, despite her best judgement, she is tender towards Vaya. This character, through her career choice, was trained to absorb all the filth in the world. The movie asked if her capacity to be vulnerable, to love someone, was still possible given her experience.
This movie projects the inner mind on screen; emotions, beliefs, normally abstract, are given physical form. Their physically encourages us to think deeper about experiences with our own emotions and beliefs. Normally, we do not spend much time introspecting in this way. We know, at a conceptual level, that emotions and beliefs guide our behavior. But often our day to day is so consumed with practicalities of living that we have no idea how emotions and beliefs influence our behavior.…
