I aspire to be Parker Posey or Meg Ryan but in all honesty I am probably most similar to Steve Zahn’s character… light a eucalyptus candle to make my apartment smell moss-eh

Emma 2009
Okay I am so satisfied to learn that so many reviewers on here agree that this is the superior adaptation! It obviously benefits from being able to get deeper than a regular 2 hour movie, but I also think this is the portrayal of Emma that best resonates with me in terms of her character. I love Anya Taylor Joy but I think the direction in that adaptation portrayed Emma as way too bitchy — I always had read her as overconfident and naive rather than outrightly mean or conniving. Mr. Knightley is the ultimate Jane Austen romantic lead — rich, handsome, just mean enough. OBSESSED!

Austenland 2013
No guilt all pleasure! This movie is a classic of feminist cinema and I’m not even being facetious! Someone else’s review pointed out that this is one of few movies where a woman’s high expectations for love are celebrated rather than made fun of or considered a character flaw. This movie inspires me to never settle no matter how tempting it can be and also celebrates traditionally feminine interests as worthwhile and beautiful! Also hilarious I don’t care what anyone says the use of Nelly’s Hot in Herre will go down as one of the most iconic uses of music in film send tweet.
