Those wistful stares of longing at the end, the twinkles of light in both of their eyes, and each tap of his shoe as he slowly walks out of the palace. Yes, he has decided, he’s letting go; but he’s also reminiscing, with a bittersweet smile, about everything that just happened, and possibly thinking about what could have been… wow wow wow. How lovely, how sweet, how tragically romantical!

This movie is about a gothic princess trapped in her father’s castle. She desires companionship; to be seen and understood, but the men in her life fail her and break her spirit. A poor sweet bird like Ellen Olenska in The Age of Innocence, caged by those with no empathy instead of being accepted and set free to fly.

Great actors, nuanced characters, and amazing scenes that I’m thinking about over and over again. Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh are just gorgeous.

I didn’t know a documentary could be like this— I enjoyed it! Felt like I was right at the table with them.
