  A painful and vulnerable display of how patriarchy hurts us all. We're bound to a culture that becomes inescapable; every person is placed in an established, hierarchical role that abuses you and keeps you helpless. It's not that you're tied down by social expectations, but instead you can not imagine your own freedom.

  It's as if both characters could not imagine changing for the better. One's avoidant, selfish, and manipulative - cold and callous, strategically showing affection to get what she wants. The other is dependent, anxious, and passive -complicit with all the ways he was wronged and hurt as long as he gets an ounce of love.

  It's a frustrating watch, because I hate both of their self-destructive natures. But it's a good show for introspection.
