  rich in satirical social and political commentary, i couldn’t help but think abt how much it reflects the current state of american imperialism. 
  his critique of capitalism and the dehumanization of the working class isn’t subtle and bong joon-ho strikes a balance with humor, alongside themes of romance and mortality.
  the performances owned this film. robert pattinson and naomi ackie deliver amazing performances, and i think mark ruffalo has already secured his nomination for best supporting actor. he and toni collette bodied their roles, i felt irritated at times bc of how unserious they were lol. overall saucy film.

  capitalist pursuit is meaningless when your survival is detached from any meaningful fulfillment in the end. 
  although much more nuanced since maria braun is a victim of a post-war germany capitalist society, that’s what i took from this film.
