  Crash (1996) at 10am…. In IMAX……… with David Cronenberg and Howard Shore……………. Could be used to resuscitate people. My favourite cronenberg and a masterclass in filmmaking. Jesse and I felt as if in a trance walking out. Those scenes on an imax screen (and my favourite ending scene of all time) insaaane. If you haven’t watched this film do yourself a favour, family film night will go down splendidly

  Love Is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon 1998

  Bacon is my favourite painter. A electric spirit and complicated, charismatic masochistic man - easy to describe in parts but impossible to encapsulate. Not a particularly nice one either. What a character - a huge feat for Jacobi no doubt and he killed it! However, the portrayal of Bacon here was very leaning into his self absorbed, disregarding, sassy and insensitive sides, lacking in showing also his simultaneously social, compassionate and emotional qualities and his truly inspiring commentaries on life…
