this movie helped me make peace with my catholicism lol
absolute masterclass in terms of giving you a slow drip of information that leaves you in suspense. beautifully shot and colored. the actors are incredible. thoroughly enjoyed the ending. definitely one of the Movies of All Time. will be watching this again and showing it to various people to see how they react

it’s giving disney channel original movie, but in a good way. it’s kept afloat by aesthetics and a sincere depiction of a sibling relationship, and dragged down by blatant product placement. the plot is paper-thin, but the main character’s arc genuinely resonated with me, and the dead sister and nerdy sidekick are charming. some shots have really fun lighting, and the color and kitsch is just really refreshing. i feel like this film could’ve had potential to be a new fave if the script had spent a little more time baking. still worth a weekend watch :]

this is half a movie; it’s basically just a first act. the animation is gorgeous but the writing and direction is flat and indecisive. hobie is a standout but his charm almost entirely comes from his comic characterization. not even half as good as itsv. not worth seeing until btsv comes out, unless u really wanna see miguel’s ass
