  Woody Harrelson has famously declared he “doesn’t believe in germ theory”. This in fact aided him in his performance in this film, allowing him to be extra kick-ass and fearless. As is frequently said, you can’t be scared of getting infected with a zombie virus when you don’t believe viruses exist.

  I have lived Shoko’s story, I grew up Deaf and horrifically bullied. The bullies don’t ever say sorry or try to make amends and befriend you, the best they’ll do is pretend it never happened. Movie was okay, liked the inclusion of JSL, don’t love the implied sentiment that Deaf people are/should be endlessly forgiving of other people’s ableist shit. Hit too close to home to make me sad or properly enjoy the story, just made me angry and bitter instead. Needs a sequel where Ueno successfully jumps off a bridge.
