“Sauce is the true litmus test of society.” Jam-packed with all the themes Bong Joon-Ho loves to hit, Mickey 17 is sci-fi at its best: the ability to reflect on the current moment through a mirror that doesn’t feel too far ahead. That said, one less theme would help this feel tighter *and* might it be the point that all these things happen simultaneously anyway?! Pattinson’s performance will be polarizing but I liked it! Toni Collette is also on her game here.

Like Natalie Imbruglia, I am torn.
On the one hand, Conclave has so much going for it. Palpable textures. Specificity yet familiarity. A booming score. A superb cast. Campy pomp and circumstance. Ralph Finnes as a morally ambiguous (at times) Benoit Blanc. An underutilize Sergio Castellitto chewing the scenery every second he gets. Isabella Rossellini Serving what Maggie Smith’s reverend MOTHER must’ve been three years before meeting Sister Mary Clarence.
