I don't know why it took me so long to see this movie. It's Kafka by Woody Allen. It's definitely has it's roots in Orson Welles The Trial and it's probably why I loved it so much from the first moment. It's also one of woody's best looking films. Highly recommended if you love Kafka. Don't expect it to be a straight forward Woody picture though.

The Innocents 1961
Honest to god this actually scared the hell out of me. Even though I was very familiar with the source material this was a phenomenal adaptation! Excellent blocking and staging, great dialogue from Truman Capote himself and some of the best black and white cinematography in cinema history. This is probably the best gothic horror tale in film and if you haven't watched it yet go do it!

The Monkey 2025
Why did it take Oz so much time to make a comedy? This was a blast! This had the style and dread of Longlegs with the slapstick gory humor of Evil Dead. I didn't expect to enjoy this so much but I glad I did.

Stopmotion 2023
"It's a wonderful medium isn't it? Bringing dead things to life."
As if stop-motion wasn't scary enough, this film also adds body horror.
A stop-motion artist is struggling to finish her comatose mother last film all the while a mysterious girl neighbor is trying to convince her to build her puppets from dead things.
It's beautifully shot and the animation is the stuff of nightmares. It lacks a bit of a punch but certainly has vibes akin to Berberian Sound Studio and Black Swan.
Also I'm officially in love with Aisling Franciosi. She's amazing in this as always.
