  So... Princess Mononoke but with a different color pallet. Still, there's a lot to appreciate about this anime. Are we gonna ignore the dank ass scene where Nausicaä uses her gunpowder and chambering mechanism to blast off the lens of the dead Ohm? Are we gonna ignore that a fully hand drawn animation like this has such a clear and distinct signature to it? You'll surely struggle to find animations like this nowadays.   The story of two heartbroken, melancholic policeman falling in love. One with a woman running like a cheetah while wearing high heels, and the other with a woman singing Cantonese version of Dreams by The Cranberries. Couldn't get any better.

  After rewatching this, I know for a fact that Edward Yang understands human condition and relationships so well. Each shot portrays them confronting the hard truth through a masterful framing of their reflections and environment. This concealment allows our mind to picture a far more realistic image.
