Seems nobody likes fun anymore, because you couldn't have made this film any better. The 1946 version is amazing and so is this live action retelling, with a rearranged score by Alan Menken and new songs. The cast completely knocks it out of the park. Genuinely creepy film carried by Emma Watson, not something for your average Marvel fan though.
I don't see how anyone could think this cliche ridden tripe was good. It and the characters exist just to exist. Tired, even Samuel L Jackson makes you yawn in this. If Kong: Skull Island actually had some direction and character development I might have cared. Just feels like someone playing in a sandbox.

How such a mediocre movie could get so much praise I don't know. It's not directed that well and borderlines on B movie tier. Entirely predictable, not really interesting, not really funny. Would work better as a sketch which is likely what it originally was written as.
