As good as a mainstream musical biopic gets. It lets the songs speak for themselves, and that saves from many of the cliches and overdone dialogues of the genre. Oh and every actor in this is fantastic.

This has the kind of moving beauty that creeps up on you without you noticing. And, suddenly, you find yourself crying over a conversation of a father and a daughter sitting in a bed.
It is a demanding film, sitting at 3 hours of running time and using long and sustained shots throughout, which means it moves at a slow pace. But it’s also full of humour and tenderness, and if you let it carry you in its rhythm, it will reward you.
