If they’d played Eduard Khil's “I Am Very Glad, As I Am Finally Returning Back Home” as the credits rolled it would’ve been the greatest film of all time. A rare miss from Tarkovsky.

Absolutely insane that this isn’t a pantheon Dad Movie that plays 500 times a year on TNT. Also incredible that they used to make films like this. As much as I find New Hollywood worship to be overbearing at times, it’s unquestionably the pinnacle of American filmmaking. They don’t make ‘em like Friedkin anymore. RIP to a legend.
