  A Visitor to a Museum 1989

  Brian David Gilbert’s voice: “I’m going to throw myself into the sea.”

  A Soviet biblical post-apocalyptic arthouse vision of hell on Earth, and at times an absolute fever dream. Maybe it’s the older film cameras, or the aspect ratio and sound design, or just the legitimately grim filming locations, but this movie really got to me, and felt a lot harsher than most other versions of a post-cataclysm world.

  Also, so many of the visuals were legitimately amazing and incredibly striking in a way I’ve never seen before.

  A bit slow though, but hey, so is eternity.

  Fun fact: for one of the vampire hunter scenes the prop master forgot to bring the long thick iron stake, but Willem Dafoe just provided his own it’s in the trivia, look it up!
