Yes this film is dated and somewhat cheesy- but the amount of influence it still holds today, both for the genre and to me personally, is a testament to the strength of the storytelling, the horrific imagery, and the ideal that “zombie” films (and horror films in a broader sense) are stronger when they are about the relationships between the people navigating a crisis, and how it influences their personal moral character.
