  Ghost Dog is a fun movie that pays respect to old film genres, acting as almost an I spy of tropes and gimmicks from Samurai/old west, Italian Mob, and Blaxploitation films. Despite this fun idea of paying homage to film and it's tropes from highly popular and influential genres it is more than just that, using it's cast of gimmicky characters to make a an interesting story.

  La Haine is a movie that blatantly shouts it’s meaning at you. Many people will tell you the first and last shot of a movie are the two most important ones. In La Haine one of the main characters Hubert (Hubert Koundé) commentates over these two shots with the meaning of the movie, which is, we are ignoring the writing on the walls.
