    Finally saw this in a theater and I’m positive I could write an entire essay on my thoughts but I’ll attempt to keep it brief here. I think what always strikes me most about this film is something that Miyazaki has harped on from the beginning: Details Matter.

    The last half of this pulls out an insane new camera angle like every 30 seconds, Guadagnino and his DP were unhinged in the best possible way. I’m also a sucker for an overpowering soundtrack and OH MY GOD, they made full use of Reznor’s techno-rock anthems.

    Can’t believe how good this was from top to bottom - Zendaya might have the star power juice after all.

    I’m not sure we needed a Gen Z-centric remake of this, especially one that is seemingly too afraid to fully commit to being a musical. The amount of times that a song would cut into a scene to explain what we just watched drove me crazy.
