Prisoners of the Ghostland 2021
very underwhelming and honestly pretty dull. a really poorly told story. so often throughout this i kept thinking WHY. why are these people fighting, why is this kid so jacked on gumballs, why is nicolas cage saying he has 1 arm when he clearly has 2 arms? two stars for some nice visuals but the whole film has a gloss of try-hard but also didn't-try-at-all

Eno 2024
is hard to review a film that boasts about being different on every viewing but here goes nothing...the idea of a generative documentary seems novel enough and brian eno is certainly a perfect subject for an innovative approach to the form, but it was a little disappointing overall. felt like i was on youtube, clicking thru different episodes of EnoTV. definitely enjoyable but felt so navel-gazy, my version was just a LOT of eno talking. interesting fella with interesting ideas…

Roxanne 1987
Steve Martin movies are usually movies where the whole cast kind of talks and acts like Steve Martin. This is usually part of their charm but unfortunately for this one it actually comes off as sort of intellectually snobby. It's weird when the writer of the movie also stars as the smartest one in the room but when it's Steve martin he does still manage to be likeable despite the fact that the plot boils down to "insecure snob helps travelling horndog catfish woman who really ought to know better." I think I can sum up this film as "fine but obsolete."
