The cover making this look like a horny lesbian car girl movie are INSANELY misleading. It watches like a gore-soaked hentai fever dream. The Saw movies were easier to watch than this.
The shot composition in this is interesting, with lots of long, lingering shots. The problem is their content: many of these lingering shots are spent focusing on things that are neither important nor visually interesting.

Visually, this movie is stunning. The interplay of light, texture, and movement makes every frame a delight. The movie is, however, best watched on mute.
The characters are underdeveloped, a critical flaw in a movie which relies so heavily upon each character representing a recognizable archetype. The main theme of the movie is confused, and poorly executed. It loses itself in its own universe too often.
This is an interesting concept, one which is extremely difficult to execute on, done just okay.
This is a five star film seen through the lens of a 2 star cinematographer. 2002 was a really bad year for visuals in movies. The story and themes are perfectly executed, the pacing is acceptable, and the characters are reasonable.
Never seen a movie with a less engaging opening 10 minutes
The first act is a five-star modern analogue horror commenting on the commodification of beauty. The second act is a mess. The third act is an excuse to do some gnarly practical SFX. But by the third act, this movie has totally lost the plot. The first act and the third act feel totally disconnected.

Overall thoughts, this is a perfectly serviceable entry into the predator universe. It doesn't fail anything important, but nor does it succeed remarkably well at anything. The main character was a very poor choice (being motivated to prove everyone wrong is shallow and dated) but it's a Predator movie so that doesn't matter much anyways. The dog is fine the whole movie.
