Watched this before and I still think it's fun, an interesting story and I liked some of the editing/ directing choices. I would say my main critique is that it can be a bit too heavy handed, from Jon's stereotypical Italian American family, the accents and how macho him and his friends are. It made the meaning less impactful for me, it's more "man this guy is crazy" than recognising the point JGL is making about objectification and being one sided in relationships.

Promising Young Woman 2020
Overall I liked this, but I get the criticism around the ending and the "girlboss your way out of SA" narrative. I think the film does a good job of showing the hostility women face on a daily basis without being too contrived and I think Carey Mulligan did a great job of portraying Cassie. It's not perfect, but I wish there were more films from this perspective and I think this is a good start!
