  It would be one thing if this was written and directed by a woman, then the idea of Catherine Deneuve’s character fantasizing about submission, erotic secrecy, and sexual deviance could be somewhat empowering. But I’m not sure how this isn’t just the epitome of the male gaze, considering the fact that her character is undeniably “every MANS fantasy”.
