definitely worth the hype in a lot of ways. elizabeth sparkle is a pretty unlikeable character and i struggled to feel bad or empathise with her, rather i pitied her lack of gratitude/inherently selfish nature. sue embodies these characteristics as well, which makes sense since they “are one”. i didn’t really like or was rooting for any of the characters, but that seems deliberate, maybe to show the shallow nature of hollywood. highlights for me were the unique concept/plot, the…

The Perks of Being a Wallflower 2012
For what it is (a coming of age/youth movie) it’s quite good and explores some heavy themes in an interesting manner. I think as a teenager this would hold more weight, which is fair enough considering that’s the target audience. They do a good job slowly introducing the more heavy themes in a digestible way. Some of the acting was just cringey which really brought it down for me, but that’s almost to be expected in a film like this.
