i think its hard to say what makes this film so incredible - but fernanda torres' powerhouse performance is certainly part of it. she feels so incredibly real as eunice in every single scene it doesnt feel like youre watching a performance, but rather the real eunice paiva. the whole film was so incredibly visceral and commanding, deserved its oscar and another one for fernanda torres. just wow . one of those films that seems to make everything else youve watched pale into insignificance.
