Simple symbolism and anthropomorphic personality imbued into these animals. Nothing funnier than the first scene of them dogs gettin a boat tho. Through independently compassionate acts they learn to trust each other and work together. The bird had nothing to gain from its selflessness, the floods dont impact it, it has no internal motivation to save the cat but it does. Bird being the most selfless explains its respective scene, why didnt the whale get the same treatment?

A movie about addiction. The cause for the addiction is what he and his sister share — many on here see this as some kind of incestuous allegory but it’s more so just a projection of their respective shame… how watching their addiction manifest from the outside disgusts each of them. them being siblings is more a tool for reflection of their respective trauma and addiction for the viewer. to see it as incest is poor media literacy.
