    Toosh.”

I love all of Sean Baker’s films, and I think he is a singular talent in American independent cinema today. The Florida Project is in my top 5 films of the 2010’s, Red Rocket is superb, as is Tangerine. Baker’s penchant to shine a light on marginalised American communities (immigrants, sex workers, impoverished communities) is his greatest asset, and I love that he does so without ever passing judgement or exploiting these marginalised people.

    That all being said, it…

I think I just stepped into a James Joyce novel.

The above quote in Irish Wish is said by Lindsay Lohan’s character as she looks out at the Cliffs of Moher (which she repeatedly and wrongly pronounces as Moore), and despite the fact that Joyce’s works are nearly all about Dublin City.

Irish Wish is the worst thing to happen to my people since The Great Famine and British colonialism. Honestly, this might be worse.

    Irish Wish is abysmal. It…

God sure was dressin' the wrong doll when he blessed you with a set of balls.“

It’s been quite a while since I last watched Dallas Buyers Club. I liked the film when it came out, but I was slightly soured by DiCaprio losing Best Actor for The Wolf of Wall Street to McConaughey, so I’ve not much thought about it since then.

Dallas Buyers Club is pretty solid. I can’t fault McConaughey’s performance (even if I stand by DiCaprio…

They seek delay, we seek justice.

I’m not surprised one bit to see that Leaving Neverland 2: Surviving Michael Jackson is getting review-bombed by a plethora of bad faith pedophile defenders who refuse to believe the evidence of their eyes and ears (and what Michael himself confessed to). It goes without saying that I believe MJ was a sexual predator, and I believe the men at the heart of this documentary.

    However…

It really doesn’t help James Safechuck and Wade Robson’s…

Looks like a croissant dipped in shit!

Mickey 17 is around 17 different films shoved in one - it’s a science fiction dystopia that ponders the meaning of life and death, it’s a trademark Bong Joon-ho critique of insidious capitalism and the commodification of life itself, it’s an absurdist satire-comedy, it’s a passionate tale of animal nativism versus human colonialism, and so much more. Mickey 17 doesn’t quite come together in all ways, but I do think its quirkiness, its…

    My husband’s in danger, Martha.”
    We’re all in danger.

I always watch all award season contenders each year before the Academy Awards airs, but sadly release dates for I’m Still Here and the availability of screenings (it was a massive hit for the Brazilian Irish population!) made it impossible, which was especially frustrating given the dark horse campaign it ran.

I’m glad I didn’t let I’m Still Here pass by me unseen. This was really moving, quietly powerful, and wonderfully insightful…
