  Ein grundlos untervögeltes Paar hinterfragt ihre Ehe. Entsprechend altmodisch wie das Ursprungswerk Schnitzlers kommt der Mann Bill seinen Gelüsten in der Wirklichkeit hautnah während die Frau Alice ihren Phantasien nur in der Erinnerung und im Traum begegnet. Trotz der klassischen Familienkonstellation ist Alice keinesweg impotent. Wenn auch nicht in ihrer Lebensführung ist sie in ihrer Liebe und Zuneigung erstaunlich unabhängig und überraschend modern. Dieser Bruch mit dem Stereotyp der devoten Ehefrau ist das, was den Film davor bewahrt, einzig ein hübsch verpackter Softporno zu sein.

  The movie is a stunning treatise of Oppenheimers life as a physicist, a leader and advicate of arms-control. In my opinion, the movie delivers the notion of Oppenheimer, intellectual, and moral conflict very well. Admittedly however, with its 3h of length it is in no hurry to do so. The movie succeeds in conveying the scientific significance and bustle of the time even to those who have no connection to science whatsoever. Letteng the viewer dig deep into Oppenheimers soul…

  The central conflict stems from a marriage between two seeming strangers. This leads to the all to well known misunderstandings. The movie draws too much of its plot from the established gender roles of the paranoid and seemingly crazy stay-at-home wife and the incredulous husband. Predicatable as ever, this eclipses in catastrophy.

  However, all of this can be expected of a horror movie. Speaking from an artistic point of view the movie is very appealing visually making good use of the mystery surrounding the romanian stage.
