i. love. this. movie. flaws and all. no its not the scariest movie of all time and people will hate this movie bc of that acclaim influencers would give after neon included them in generating hype for it. but it is atmospheric as hell and a terrifying and grim thriller.
the foreshadowing in this is actually insane on this rewatch like wtf. i really lost it mentally and couldn’t believe i didn’t catch it on first watch…

this is probably the best holiday slasher and its all thanks to mason gooding and olivia holt. their chemistry was honestly spectacular. i love seeing mason play the sweet, kind hearted, awkwardly funny jock in every horror movie (honestly he’s just playing a grown up Chad again) and i feel like this is olivia’s best work in years. i truly understood why heart eyes was after them after the constant denial.
