  Had high expectations going into this but felt a little disappointed afterwards. Winslet’s performance was the highlight in a film which — alongside a head-scratcher casting choice in Samberg — felt like it only scratched the surface of the more emotively powerful themes. It spent too much time on the build up and not enough time on the events which made Winslet’s character Lee one of the most renowned photographers in history.

  Went into it expecting not much more than a shallow commentary on which path the current ‘real world’ America could hypothetically go down. Sat there afterwards feeling completely different and saying “Holy Shit”.

  Amidst a time of remakes and unoriginal films, it’s nice to see a film which — despite its flaws eg. pacing and a predictable ending — presents a new concept in its focus on the consequences of the past. Teller and Taylor-Joy’s chemistry was one of the stronger elements.
