A wonderful movie, both fun and astounding. In the middle of beautiful scenes of the Amercian South accompagnied by great music, it asks questions about responsibility, the escalation of violence, freedom and the women's condition.

The film's length is to my mind completely unjustified, as there are numerous useless or uselessly long shots, bringing little to nothing to the plot or the characters. The costumes are splendid. And some scenes, such as the coronation or final one, are simply chilling. Otherwisely, the aesthetic didn't age very well, all those dark/blue tones... And the many attempts for glamour, through violence, humour or romance, weren't always beneficial to the ensemble, quite the opposite. Otherwise, the more serious moments I emjoyed a great deal.
