A charming, quiet and mindful picture. I read the film as a compassionate and humanistic perspective on the aging process that successfully managed to not fall into cloying sentimentality. But what else would you expect from Wenders.
Despite a dearth of dialogue Kōji Yakusho’s performance is stunning and heartbreaking.
