though i haven’t seen many, this seems the be the quintessential anderson film. swiftly paced, well shot, blocked, scored, and all of his regulars in the cast, really it has all the typical wes anderson flair all at their peak. the performances are great and honestly this has me firmly on the ralph fiennes train. this is without a doubt one of the most entertaining films i have watched in a long time.

great performances all around especially from monica barbaro, tim, and elle fanning but unfortunately i’m just not in love with dylan and i’m not much of a biopic fan. it’s a well made film but it didn’t exactly do anything special or revolutionary for a movie that all culminates in a special and revolutionary moment in music history. i found the final moments somewhat lacking in weight. the direction is pretty safe as is the cinematography. good film, didn’t knock my socks off. timothee chalamet has a crazy nose prosthetic.

endearing, heartfelt, WAY ahead of its time, and laugh out loud hysterical. if you have 80 minutes to kill WATCH THIS!!! it’s got some predictable story beats and a lot of cliches but that’s kinda the point of making this type of satirical coming of age. ru paul is 40 in this and has a terrifying goatee. very understandable that 5 years after this nickelodeon saw dante basco and said yeah this is who we want to play a flaming twink with daddy issues.
