I like Jason Statham, but I rarely like his films. Wrath of Man is an exception. This film isn't.

Decent flick, hits all the beats, but falls a bit short.

My mom always told me about a movie she saw in the theater when she was young that had a jump scare that caused her to leap out of her seat. She told me recently that Wait Until Dark was the film, and we watched it as a family. Even though I knew the jump scare was coming, it still got me. I love early Bond director Terence Young, who taught Sean Connery to be Bond. The film is obviously an adaptation of a play, contained, suspenseful, and plot-centric. Hepburn is great as always.

There’s something I like about William Friedkin. Something slightly “off” about his compositions, lens choices, storytelling, like an amateur who arrives at something more interesting than a pro. Maybe he shows how far you can get running on pure, arrogant certitude.

This film is adjacent to The French Connection and Sorcerer. It’s knocked down a peg by the odd ending, which really doesn’t work.
