Not the most original plot but it was a lot of fun, and Jack Quaid’s likability carries, even though he’s just playing another nerd that’s got himself into a situation where he’s in over his head. There’s some gnarly gore that made me wince slightly a couple times. The bank robbers and police detectives were a bit cliché. I’d say Novacaine is a cut above the typical Jason Statham tough guy flicks. It’s similar quality to movies like Nobody with Bob Odenkirk. I don’t think it will be a future classic but I was entertained.

Really dug this weird ass A24 movie. If you like “Dream Scenario”, you’ll probably like this too. Fantastic performances all around. It also looks gorgeous, shot on 16mm.

This was a fun ride. Another banger from A24 🔥The story kept me engaged throughout and I couldn’t predict where it was going. I feel like I need to read a plot synopsis to understand what happened. Still really enjoyed this, would recommend 👍🏻

Watching the film again last night, while my feelings are generally still positive, I’m not sure if I’m as enamoured with it as I once was. Shame is very subdued and unsexy, and doesn’t glorify its subject matter. It’s well directed and has a pretty colour palette and a strong lead performance from Michael…
