Three Seats for the 26th 1988
My view is that for the first 55 minutes or so, it cooks, and it's Demy back in full force. After that it kind of meanders and fails to quite deliver on the premise. Late-period Demy is so frustrating because it really is a career half-full of films that really don't sustain for the full runtime despite moments of unimpeachable brilliance. The better scenes in this are top drawer musical moments from a master, so it's well worth watching, whatever the gripes
