Orlando 1992
Liked this but went in thinking I was going to love it. The set pieces are worthy of The Color of Pomegranates, but it's a little too beautiful and the plot itself drags—it feels like a book, not a movie, except in the absence of Woolf's long fluid sentences it's anchored by Tilda Swinton's magnetic stares and cheeky side-eyes. Also Billy Zane looks like a parallel dimension's Carlos Alcaraz.

Full to the brim, and even by the end you're not totally sure who the main character is meant to be. It's so gorgeously shot and I loved the brief Grand Budapest Hotel-ish close-ups of objects, e.g. the birthday cake with the fallen candle. It's one of those movies that's very alive to all the senses, not just sight, and so the images are beautiful not just because they're well composed but also because the cinematography builds up small components…
