Expectations were set pretty low when the opening shot once again featured a flock of Isa Brown chooks millenia before the Institut de Sélection Animale had even been formed.
It seems like they wanted to tell basically the same story as the first movie but didn't want to make it a scene for scene remake. To deal with this dilemma they chose to take out all the character development and ruin the pacing.
The twins were silly and Lucilla somehow found a cosmetic surgeon in the sixteen year gap. Also Pedro Pascal was there for some reason.
I'm sitting there having a good time as the intrigue builds as to what's going on at this quaint little hovel in rural America in 1906 when all of a sudden a couple of goddam ISA BROWN chooks waddle across the screen. The immersion, and with it, the entire viewing experience was ruined.
