the cinematography here is just bafflingly amazing, the writing is mesmerizing, and this is the greatest set design work i've ever seen. every little bicycle on the wall, vending machine in the corner--it's immaculate. and those final 2 lengthy dialogue scenes just make the last hour absolutely fly by. holy heckin heck man it's riveting stuff. this lived up to all the hype.

truly one of the great breakout performances in cinema history. i almost don’t even think this movie would have had any legs without the perfect casting for the lead. whenever the plot feels like it might be running into a wall, madison just ropes you back in so effortlessly.

every single person in this movie wants to engage in sexual intercourse. so many things worth shouting out- the blue light coming through every window pane paired with the red furniture and yellow walls all with this beautiful christmas light haze, its careful dissection of class and social structures, the acting chops that cruise and kidman give us by effectively trying to one-up each other constantly, the unsettling Lynchian underworld. this film instantly became one of my favorites ever, and i can’t wait to revisit it for years to come. totally mindblowing and flawlessly executed.
