Nothing really occurs as it should and almost always occurs for the sake of the spectacle and an ongoing pursuit of directorial risk. The dialogue is clever especially considering that the vast majority of the lines are non sequiturs. Incredible character study. Amazing performance by De Niro and directing by Scorsese. I was very impressed by the execution of the ending and was captivated all throughout the film.
