  Yep that was bonkers. It felt effortless and almost haphazardly put together but that made it fun. It was quirky but with none of the self conscious, forced quirkiness you get with some films. At the same time it also was filled with pleasing and witty details all the way through like the cabby’s eye drops etc. Being funny seemed so easy for this film. 

  Always love the colour in an Almodovar film.

  This film pulled me to pieces. Nina’s pursuit of the ‘perfect’ black swan dance causes her to utterly destroy herself. The combination of Natalie Portman’s visceral and convincing acting and the intensity of the directing style made the film both a terrifying and beautiful psychological ordeal. Because we see the world through Nina’s eyes, we lose our grip on what is real as she does. I think this ties you more in to her psyche and involves you more deeply…
