I love how Sean baker’s films create their own universe of grounded, humanistic stories with perfectly imperfect characters. It reminds me of Kintsugi, the Japanese pottery repair method that takes broken pieces and puts them back together with gold filling in the cracks. We’re all broken in our own ways but i think Sean’s films highlight the gold holding us together, making us something new
