Remember Jack ? He’s back. In Letterboxd form !
I wish I watched more films.
“What year is this ?”
An 18 hour dream from which I’ll never be able to wake up.
“The evil that men do, maybe it doesn’t matter what we call it.”
Would take one hundred viewings just for me to understand my own thoughts and feelings towards Twin Peaks, yet alone be able to explain them.
But the highlighted quote is all the analysis I think I need to give, anything else just feels wrong.
Lynch didn’t intend this series to be something you explain to others, nor did he intend you to read about what it means to somebody else. It’s a show that needs to be experienced, and what an experience it was.
“It's all over. That's what you said. But it isn't all over. It's far from being all over.”
Obviously unbeknownst to the production team but over 60 years of Sci-Fi history is riding on the back of this thing. So the fact they were able to create something so somber and haunting, with such a strong sense of gravitas, is absolutely mind blowing.
Plus the creepy, patchwork, singsong Cybermen are maybe THE defining imagine of Classic Who for me.
“I want to belong somewhere, do something, instead of this aimless drifting around in space.”
Probably the most Doctor Who to ever Doctor Who.
