I loved the competitive nature of Art and Patrick’s relationship. A love triangle if you will. There is so much passion in both sports and romance, this film did an excellent job of encapsulating it.
Truly outstanding performance by Margaret Qualley and Demi Moore. One of the more grotesque films I’ve seen in a while. The special effects were absolutely incredible. I could feel the pain of Demi Moore’s character as she began to spiral. This film left me contemplating mortality and the inevitability of aging. Time is ruthless on the human body and we will all wither away eventually..
This cinematic masterpiece shines a bright light on the hypocrisy and brutality of the samurai code in 17th-century Japan. Harakiri remains timeless, as its themes resonate deeply with the unraveling of societal structures we witness even today. Hanshirō Tsugumo’s piercing words encapsulate the film’s essence:
“After all, this thing we call samurai honor is ultimately nothing but a facade.”
One of the best films I’ve seen in quite some time. Phenomenal performance by both Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix. I was glued to the screen from start to finish, as I sat on the edge of my seat in absolute awe. Maximus: I knew a man once who said, "Death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back."
