Section 51(xxxi) of the Constitution allows Parliament to make laws for the acquisition of property on just terms. This is the foundational premise of the movie, yet the notion that a “man’s castle is his home”, leads this Melbourne family on a quest to appeal to the High Court of Australia, to challenge, necessarily, the interpretation of what is “on just terms”. The movie is much less about the law than it is about the Australian spirit, in having a fair go. I recall watching this many a time during history class in high school.
Inspiring for sound effects / soundtrack. Not usually into sci-fi but this was an exception, storyline is nice, although ends abruptly. Costume and worlds imagined are unique (perhaps based on the novel, which I have yet to read). Interesting use of different cultures / traditions as reference points.
