I didn’t like this movie. I don’t like the way it portrays japanese people like they’re aliens. The dialogue is dull and lacks substance. I didn't enjoy the lack of foundation and chemistry between Charlotte and Bob. I didn’t like the pacing. The nuance in this movie fail to come off as profound and abstract, but rather pretentious. The themes of alienation and longing didn’t stand out to me. The only thing I enjoyed about this movie is how it visually and sonically presents Japan.
