Memories of Murder by Bong Joon-ho

    Was a 98/100

    Now a 100/100

I had already known from my first viewing that when I rewatched Memories of Murder that I would give it a 100. This still remains and always will be one of my absolute favourite films of all time. I think there are so many key components here at display that really elevate this film to the highest tier for me: the acting is phenomenal, the pacing is swift…

    BONG JOON-HO MY GOAT!!!

Fantastic on rewatch. Slick, funny, and impactful. Sooo many memorable moments that hit like a ton of bricks. This is exactly the type of movie you’d want from an Oscar winner.

Mark Ruffalo still kills me in every scene he’s in. This entire cast is just so damn talented.

The Russo brothers have actually lost the ability to make good movies. I honestly have zero excitement for anything they do going forward (especially Secret Wars) as their quality of films has severely diminished.

I’ve seen this movie done a million times and every single one has had more to say and executed it better. Lazy, uninspired slop here.

    Mickey 17 by Bong Joon-ho

    92/100

This has been one of my most anticipated movies over the last half decade, so the fact that I’ve actually finally watched it hasn’t quite set in yet. A staple Bong Joon-ho film with all the elements you’d expect to find in one of his films, but he always finds a fresh and entertaining way to present them.

Thematically rich as always, touching on mortality and the value of life, as well as obviously…
